Mrs Paul’s Is Latest To Enter NBA Fishing Game

July 23, 2010 – So Chris Paul wants to play for a winner. And coupling up with a superstar is a prerequisite. Call it big fish angling for more plentiful feeding grounds. Damn your fishing limits (salary cap), Mr. Stern. Here’s our way around the nets.

Its now a fact, that David Stern’s NBA, complete with an impending CBA battle, fresh from referee integrity issues, and his meter-maid fining spree of anyone who so much as talks out of the side of his mouth, has the inmates and their agents making up the texture and competitive balance of his league, and there’s nothing he can do about it. Instead of being hailed as arguably pro sports’ top leader, he’s dropped down to the Gary Bettman/Bud Selig/Sepp Blatter range.

Chris Paul to the Knicks (everybody from their roster except Amare Stoudamire is available) isn’t good news for freshly minted FA Raymond Felton, but it would breathe some life into the flagship. Portland could package young talent in return (could risky Greg Oden be included with Brandon Roy?). Orlando would be a nice fit, but its hard to see the Hornets getting anything of value. And the Mavericks are the same way (an old Jason Kidd and a young who?).

Anyway you look at it that’s three strikes on New Orleans if you don’t count HBO’s ‘Treme.’
