The Moanin’ After Super Bowl 44
February 8, 2010 - Saints 31 Colts 17. Well, we are only days away from when pitchers and catchers report. College basketball can now concentrate on what’s wrong with North Carolina. Drew Brees, Sean Payton and the Saints will go marching in to extend Mardi Gras to about two weeks. Oh to be at Pat O’Brien’s, Commander’s Palace, Emeril’s, Brennan’s, K Paul’s, Two Sisters, Nola, Preservation Hall, Tujagues, or Pascal Manale for the celebrations. We’d all come home looking like Al Hirt and Paul Prudomme, as in Fat, and I don’t mean Tuesday.
After a season of listening to a load of experts, it’s amazing how wrong they were. Dan Marino, Boomer Esiason, Shannon “I’ve-got-bubble-gum-in-my-mouth” Sharpe all wrong. Bill Cowher right. ESPN’s Schlereth, Carter and Jackson, wrong. The body count of experts who picked the Colts is overwhelming. Peyton Manning threw two bad passes. Both intended for Reggie Wayne, one underthrown and the other picked for six. Throw in an onside kick that took away the coin flip to start the game, and you have the Saints winning by 14, not the five they were supposed to lose by. Even had Peyton and the Colts scored that TD in the last minute, they wouldn’t have covered.
It’s a great win for the Saints. A wonderful lift for the city of New Orleans and now these same “experts” will zero in on Peyton Manning to tell us he isn’t the best, or a hall of famer. Just remember who’s talking.

Congratulations Drew Brees and New Orleans! A game well played. The fans at this house were rootin’ for ya!! Not to mention, we kinda like the name Drew, too!
well said.
