Schiano Has A Hole In His Net

While Greg Schiano continues to impress with his recruiting ability, here’s a list of the key guys in the 2009 class that got away:
1. Glenn Carson LB (6-3 220) from Manahawkin. A big linebacker to Linebacker U. Didn’t hurt that his high school coach went to Penn State.
2. Gerald Hodges DB (6-3 211) from Paulsboro. Schiano had him committed but he changed his mind and went to Happy Valley. Looked like Courtney Greene’s replacement.
3. Mark Brazinski OC (6-3 297) from nearby Immaculata in Somerville. Another de-commit. He went to replace Alex Mack at Cal.
4. Malcolm Bunche OL (6-6 315) from Newark, Delaware. Schiano declared Delaware as part of the “State of Rutgers” and then watched three star lineman renege and go to Miami, FL.
5. Shawney Kersey WR (6-2 175) from Woodbury. Still another de-commit on his way to Penn State.
6. Desmond Scott RB (5-9 185) was the earliest of commitments to RU than chose to stay home in Durham, NC and play for Duke.
7. Justin Brown WR (6-4 210) Concord HS, Wilmington, DE. Kept Schiano guessing until the end when he became the third significant loss this year to Penn State.
8. Josh Evans S (6-2 185) from Irvington. Strung RU along for a while before narrowing to Oklahoma and Pittsburgh, then followed Will Hill to Florida.
9. Anthony Lalota DE (6-6 260) from the Hun School. He sniffed Rutgers but went to Michigan.
10. Raymond Graham RB (5-9 177) from Elizabeth. A “four-star” feature back from NJ to Pitt. Shades of Knowlshon Moreno and Donald Brown?
11. Theo Riddick RB (6-0 180) from Somerville. Signed with Notre Dame.
12. Tyler Stockton DL (6-1 290) from Hun in Princeton. Never really in it. He went to Notre Dame.
13. Nyshier Oliver ATH (5-10 180) St. Peters Jersey City. Played in the shadow of Will Hill now needs a position at Tennessee.
14. Dion Lewis RB (5-7 180) from Blairstown. One of three smallish RBs from NJ looking for time at Pitt.
15. Kevin Adams RB (6-0 208) from St. Joe’s Montvale, went to Pitt where Lesean McCoy is leaving.
16. Jason Hendricks DB (6-1 167) from Hudson Catholic. Chose Pitt to do his weight gaining.
17. Cody Wallace OT (6-5 270) from Moorestown. Would have shored up shortage of OLs in this class, but RU was never really on the radar. Chose Virginia.
18. Tyson Chandler DT (6-6 345) from North Plainfield. RU got two big DTs, but this guy would have fit the mold. Chose North Carolina State.
19. Mike Naples TE (6-4 220) from Somerville. RUs TE class was strong, but this guy could be another one in a long line that got away to Boston College.
20. Nolan MacMillan OT (6-6 285) from the Hun School that has produced a host of talent in recent years. Chose Iowa.
