Phelps to Vecsey to Meyers

Few people would ever link The New York Post’s Peter Vecsey to Saturday Night Live head writer Seth Meyers, but beside being good writers and (onetime and current) NBC employees, they had the most inciteful thoughts on the Michael Phelps bong incident.

Vecsey decreed that any sportswriter who had ever smoked a joint should be disqualified from commenting on Phelps and Meyers had this to say in his long-running “Really” news sketch….

“Really, If you’re at a party and you see Michael Phelps smoking a bong and your first thought isn’t ‘wow, I get to party with Michael Phelps,’ and instead you take a picture and sell it to a tabloid, you should take a long look at yourself in the mirror, because you’re a dick, I mean really…”
